Q: Where do you get most of your acorn hats and other natural items?
I collect where I legally am allowed to on trails and yards. Always ask before pillaging someone's yard though! I always ask Rangers too if it's ok to grab some acorn hats and pine cones and seed pods, making sure the seeds are out of the pods. I often gathered in Idyllwild CA when I was living in So Cal because the variety is great at such a high elevation over 6,000 ft. The reddish oak hats come from a series of trees near a pond in Sturbridge MA.
Q: What kinds of metals do you use?
I work in pure copper and also silver plated over copper. Some of the charms are pewter, some silver plated and some are pure silver where stated.
Q: Do you do custom orders or wedding favors?
Do you want a special charm? A moose perhaps or a special color? I can make any of the necklaces into bracelets as well! Please inquire and I will send you photos and an invoice. I also can do wedding favors- acorns are good luck in many cultures especially in Korea and Norway!
Q: Are your items made in the USA?
Yes! very item is hand made by one person (me!) in Massachusetts
Q: Are your acorn necklaces durable?
Yes! I only use certain species of oak for my necklaces because the hats are strong. I usually have to power drill through them! I tested each item for months- necklace dropped on floor, necklace stepped on, necklace throw in purse many times over etc...
Q: Do you take international orders?
Yes! Please inquire!
