This is from a display on the Native American history at the Idyllwild Nature Center in CA. I thought the "ball in a cup' using a drilled acorn hat was really cool. The Acorn is from a Canyon Oak aka a Golden Cup Oak. I have been experimenting on how to make my own with my power drill and use it as an element in the pieces I make.. I met another crafter who took a jewelry saw to it and made the donut- it actually fit my finger! Think of the potential this has!!!
I wear this every day. It was my Grandma Jo's. She wore it on the same hand and finger I am now. I am not sure if it's Moon stone or mother of pearl. My mom and aunt don't remember when or where she got it. She was really creative and when I look at my hand I am reminded of her.
I was cooking and thought this looked really cool on my cutting board and would make a nice colorway for the textile design repeats I do. I added some pantones so I can try to paper match a repeat. These colors could also be great for a jewelry piece.
This is a bracelet from the Gem Faire in Costa Mesa, CA, I really thought this vintage piece looked like a row of tiny wire wrapped bird nests! These are some examples of cute wire wraped birds nests- I started making the bracelet and will post the pictures soon! It's a lot harder then it looks because the nests are so much smaller then I normally make.
Hi everyone! My first entry into my craft blog! I'm totally obsessed with Fraggle Rock! I have been since I was three when I used to watch it on HBO! Does anyone else remember the mini city opening? It was so imaginative and taught me every thing and any thing is possible. Since the entire series of Fraggle Rock hit DVD I literally watched 12 hours straight and was inspired! Mokey Fraggle is a creative, sensitive poet. I loved her so much as a kid. I'm a combo of her and her roommate and bestie Red- a loud, hyer, talkative red head. This is Mokey- She's mauve with light blue/light turq hair and robe. In the later seasons she wears a sweater. She writes and drawns in her diary. I totally had a diary as a kid purely because Mokey did! So here are some of my tiny leather nature journal Mokey Fraggle inspired Diary Necklaces for your viewing pleasure! I made a tiny leather nature diary necklace that actually sold right away and the others have become quite poupular on my Etsy site and at a local store called Hapa Collective in Seal Beach CA. I have made so many I found faster easier ways to punch the holes and stitch it together! Some necklaces I hang real acorn hats with beads, Eucalyptus pods and other seeds and beads! I added a litte squirrel to this one. I'm in my first store! They really liked my journals and they are there for yoru viewing pleasure!
